Actress in both cards is Ivy Lilian Close (1890-1968)

She established Ivy Close Films in 1914 with her first husband (the filmmaker Elwin Neame) one of the first movie production companies founded by a film star.

In 1908 she has been named as the World’s Most Beautiful Woman by the British tabloid Daily Mirror, becoming generally recognized as Britain’s first beauty queen. Thats why in these postcards you can read “Premier Prix de Beauté””English Beauty” and “Preisgekrönte”. Later she won again on the competition agains the US most beautiful woman, so she can be considered as the first Miss World.

Besides acting, her other pursuits were motorcycling and golf. She also worked as a model in advertising campaigns and sang in English music halls. She was a cinema pioneer, with 44 films between 1912 and 1929.
